埔Journ (TaiPoJourn) ISSUE 002
Tai Po Journ is a collaborative experimental yet sustainable project. The independent publication is created for the Tai Po community and all concerned citizens in Hong Kong where similar publication is rare. Aiming to broaden the imagination of district magazines, the team emphasize aesthetics and creativity. Specific topic is set for each issue with keeping main content material related to Tai Po. In Tai Po Journ Issue 002, entitled “Building Memories”, we include stories of historical buildings and urban planning in collaborations with artists from different fields such as illustrators, photographers, poets, writers and architects. Besides in-depth content, we believe aesthetics is equally important. Recording memories like a scrapbook, we present feature stories with a mixture of overlapping texts, graphics, photos and documents. In order to show the variety of paper texture, we also use translucent papers as an “anatomy” by showing layers of a housing estate. The combination of aesthetics and interesting content creates an exclusive journey on paper for readers in this era of digital. Enjoyable reading experience is thus a call for resonance and is able to bring readers together as well as supporting the local printing business. NYN DESIGN participated in the entire creation from theme setting and photo-taking to content creating and typesetting. We also enjoyed working with our client, Grass Room, and our photographer, Issac Liu, very much.
